About Us

ONEIRA is from the Greek meaning “Dreams”.

Oneira Pastoral is set in the foothills of the Sideling, Springfield, near Scottsdale, in northeast Tasmania.

Oneira Pastoral was established in 1973 by Edwina and Michael Powell. With their friend and farm manager, Joe Siggins, they established a dairy farm milking 200 Ayrshire and Australian Reds.

The property is now managed by Owen Powell, who continues an interest in dairy breeds, with a small herd of Dairy Shorthorns.

The farm now specialises in intensive grazing for dairy replacements and intensive raising of beef for market.

Home Stay

A small 2 bedroom cottage with a verandah overlooking the farm is a delightful opportunity to relax and enjoy  the pastoral scene.

Pastoral

Oneira nestles in the protected valley below the Sideling range, hemmed in by hills, and watered by numerous springs and creeks.

Farm Lookout

From elevated aspects of the farm you can look towards Bridport and over Bass Strait to the Furneaux Islands, Flinders Is and Cape Barren, as well as the rolling hills of the Scottsdale valley.
